On October 26th, 2017, 2017-2018 symposium of on student grants given by Dalian Alumni Association, XMU was held at the Meeting Room 1605 in Song’en Building.
There were Cao Jianke, secretary-general of Dalian Alumni Association , Chen Weilin, executive vice-chairman of Dalian Alumni Association, Shi Huixia, vice secretary-general of the General Alumni Association,XMU, Liu Junying, chief of the Division of Management in the Office of Student Affairs, Xu Xiaowei, from Student Finance Aid and Management Center and the grant-aided students present at the symposium.
Liu Junying extended warm welcome to the two alumni from afar and on behalf of those grant-aided students, expressed sincere thanks for them. After that She made an introduction of the general development of the Dalian Alumni Association Student Grants.
Cao Jianke and Chen Weilin were making a deep communication with students.
Cao took his own growing experience in Xiamen University for example, encouraging his fellow schoolmates to seize the time and redouble their efforts to enlarge their knowledge and solidify their cultural foundation. He hoped that they could be a man of integrity without being restricted by dogmas in the future.
Chen told their fellow schoolmates that they should never give up improving and exceeding themselves. It was unwise to limit their own development for some temporary restrictions. As college students, they should aim high and strive for their dreams bravely. Later, our two seniors emphasized that Dalian Alumni Association would continue to care for their development and provide more services for them, in the hope of their positive and healthy growth.
Students present were deeply moved by their words. They all expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the alumni of Dalian Alumni Association for their generous and selfless help. Also they shared their own life , study and achievements with their seniors, as well as draw some lessons and suggestions on how to choose majors and careers from their seniors.
At the end of the symposium, Shi huixia expressed her thanks for our alumni‘s selfless giving again. She further encouraged all the students here to endeavour to do their best and strengthen their minds with gratitude!
The Student Grants Given by Dalian Alumni Association, XMU was founded in 2013, whose aim is to help poverty-stricken students from Dalian City or Liaoning Province finish their study. Besides Dalian Alumni Association also established a psychological consulting team to guide these students for their occupational choices and mental health. This student grant has been implemented for five years and aiding for 17 students,each for about 3000-5000 yuan.
