On May 21st, Xiamen University Alumni Association of Jiangxi hosted the annual meeting of 2016 at a hotel in Nanchang. Almost a hundred of alumni were on the spot. Yang Jinlin, the founder of Jinxiuqilin Media and Jinlin Public Welfare Foundations, Xu Zhenxiao, executive chairman of XMUAA of Zhejiang and Zheng Hui from the secretariat of the General Alumni Association of Xiamen University attended the meeting and made statements.
Accompanied by the school song of Xiamen University, the annual meeting began. At first, Chairman Chen Dongyou extended a warm welcome to everyone present on behalf of XMUAA of Jiangxi. When it was the 95th anniversary of XMU this April, the alumni from all over the world conveyed their love and gratitude to the alma mater in a variety of ways. Given this, Mr. Zheng Hui shared the grand occasion of the anniversary with the alumni and delivered greetings and cares on behalf of the General Alumni Association of XMU. Like many other alumni association, the XMUAA of Jiangxi organized a donation for the anniversary as well and it was supported by its members. By the end of March 31st, 2016, 175 Jiangxi alumni had taken part in the donation and the fund would be saved for the “Jiageng” boat project.
Senior alumni like Qiu Zongshun, Hong Benchun and Li Ping attended the meeting as well. It was these predecessors that helped improve the alumni association. As the representative, Teacher Hong introduced the development history of the alumni association. Later, Secretary Sheng Fangmei reported last year’s achievements and recent news.
The alumni Wang Shanghai from the Department of History, also deputy director of Jiangxi Archaeological Research Institute, introduced some information about the discovery of Haihunhou tomb in Jiangxi. Thanks to this introduction, the alumni present knew more about the precious history and understood more about the cultural relic preservation.
Yang Jinlin also shared his stories. His heart-striking experiences and impressive courage moved everyone. He inspired them to cherish every day and live as what the alma mater had told us: Pursue Excellence, Strive for Perfection.
The representatives from XMUAA of Jiujiang and other alumni from outside Jiangxi communicated with the audience as well. And the interaction part added more fun to the meeting.
