Inauguration of Xiamen University Alumni Association of College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Shenzhen Was Held Successfully

On the afternoon of March 26, the inauguration of Xiamen Univerversity alumi association of College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Shenzhen was held was great success. 108 alumni in Shenzhen attended the ceremony. Shan Ming, President of Alumni Association of Guangdong, Huang Guodian, Supervisor of Alumni Association of Guangdong and President of Chemical Branch of Alumni Association of Guangdong, Wang Wei, President of Chemical Branch of Alumni Association of Shanghai, Professor Jiang Yunbao, Dean of College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Professor Yuan Youzhu, Dean of national engineering laboratory of cleaning production off alcohol ether ester and Deputy Dean of College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering also attended ceremony at invitation. The ceremony was hosted by Xie Tangtang, a former student of Grade 1999 of chemistry.

It has been ten years since the founding of Alumni Association of College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Shenzhen. There are nearly 200 alumni of College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering in Shenzhen, including chemistry, chemical engineering, materials, scientific apparatus, and other related disciplines. The number was still increased year on year. The inauguration announced the association now has complete organizational structure and charters, becoming alumni’s real home in Shenzhen. On the inauguration, Zhang Yinglong, an alumnus of Grade 1978 and Chairman of Shenzhen Jinjia Industry and Trade Serve Company, recalled the development of the association. The conference voted through the Charter of Alumni Association of College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, and the list of the councils. Zhang Yinglong was elected the first president of the council. Guo Xiangkang, Class of 1961, the founder of alumni association of Shenzhen, and other alumni were elected honorary vice presidents. Zhang Yi, Class of 1997, and other alumni were elected vice presidents. Chen Yu, Class of 2006, was elected secretary general.

Zhang Yinglong gave a speech on the ceremony and said that the association was aimed at promoting the good tradition of XMU and the college, setting up a platform for communication of the alumni. Zhang Yunbao, on behalf of College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, expressed warm welcome and sincere wish to the members of the alumni association. He was excited about the achievement alumni had made in Shenzhen. The association sets up a umbilical cord to connect the college and alumni all over the world, through which the college could continue to provide students with nutrients, and alumni could make contribution for the college in return. Guo Kangxing, a schoolfellow of Grade 1961 of chemistry, and former chief engineer of traffic monitoring center of Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau, recalled the hardship they went through in Shenzhen, and encouraged young graduates to promote good tradition of XMU, and make contribution to the construction and development of Shenzhen.
