On April 25, at local time, the Confucius Institute of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (hereinafter, the CINAU), which was co-founded by XMU, held the unveiling ceremony of China Nigerian Alumni Association in order to set up an interactive platform for exchange and cooperation among the Nigerians who have studied in China.
Before the start of the ceremony, Mr. Guan Zhongqi, Deputy Consul General in Lagos, Nigeria, Consul Xu Wenjie and Huang Sen, and JosephE Ahaneku, Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe Univeristy, held a friendly talk, during which Mr. Guan highly praised the full support given by the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, and extended congratulations for its significant progress in undergraduate Chinese teaching , HSK certificate training, application of scholarships, and facilities and infrastructure etc. Mr. Ahaneku sincerely thanked the Chinese government as well as embassies and consulates for their valuable contribution to the university, and awarded Mr. Guan guest professorship at the “Nigerian Chinese Culture Research Center” of Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
Zhan Xinli, Vice President of XMU, sent a congratulatory letter on behalf of XMU to offer warmest regards and congratulations for the establishment of the China Nigerian Alumni Association. The letter said that CINAU, by fully tapping into Chinese elements, has carried out a wide array of cultural activities in varied forms, which are not only to the liking of the local people, but has also provided a window for the cultures and people of both countries to meet and merge. She believed that the establishment of the alumni association will bring vitality to the Confucius institute, making it become an important link between the alumni and the Confucius Institute and a home away from home for them. Their contributions and devotions will in turn promote the further development of the Confucius Institute itself.
