College of Materials Held the Symposium of Correspondents of All Previous years

On the morning of March 27, the symposium of correspondents of all previous years of College of Materials was held successfully in the meeting room in Fengling Building. Professor Liu Xingjun, Dean of College of Materials, Wang Kangping, Secretary of College of Materials’ Communist Party, Zhuang Xi, Vice Secretary of College of Materials’ Communist Party, Huang Yaxi, Vice Chairman of College of Materials’ Union, and correspondents of all previous years since the founding of Department of Materials in 1997, totaling 25 people attended the forum. The meeting was hosted by Zhuang Xi.

At first, Liu Xingjun made an introduction about the overall condition of College of Materials that through the joint effort of everyone, the material discipline remains in the top 1% in ESI (Essential Science Indicators) in recent years. At the same time, he introduced significant development in faculty, talents cultivation, scientific research, social serve, external exchange, and other aspects.

All alumni were grateful for the cultivation of XMU and College of Materials. Even if they were in career, they were closely related with the alma mater. The sense of belonging was strengthened through the meeting. They also promised that they were willing to provide students with scholarship, subsidies, and opportunities for employment and internship within their financial capabilities. As XMU celebrated its 95th anniversary, alumni responded actively to the initiative of donation to promote the spirit of Tan Kah Kee through practical action.

Then Wang Kangping hosted the election, and closely read and discussed Xiamen University Alumni Association of College of Materials Charter (discussion paper) with alumni, and proposed several modifications. Meanwhile, there are seven managing directors in the second alumni association with Wang Jinshan, Class of 1997 of material, and General Manager of Fujian High-speed Sinochem Oil Ltd. as president.
