During the meeting, he also awarded the appointment letter to Chen Zhao and other 6 alumni.

The Administrative Committee of Xiang’an Campus, Secretariat of Xiamen University Alumni Association, and College of Physical and Electromechanical Engineering provided as much escort and convenience as possible during their visit to the university, “Strength of the South”, of which the beautiful scenery reminded the alumni of the time of hardship and warship. Date back 54 years, Xiamen University was surrounded by flames of war. Students of Class of 1960 of physics came to Xiamen University, which was located on the first line of the southeast coast, to pursue studies. Up to now, the tumultuous yell of warhorn still echoes in the ears, and the teaching of the teachers always springs to the mind. In that special era, they underwent warfire, militia movement, Wuqiu Labor, economic depression, reforms of universities, and other changes of times with pen in one hand, and gun in another. Of over 280 students, only 151 of them graduated on time. After graduation, they devoted themselves to all walks of life, contributing their share to the construction of socialism.

Fifty years have passed but the concern and missing to the alma mater and the classmates never cease. What remains unchanged is the spirit of Xiamen University “pursue excellence; strive for perfection”.
